Two formats, two checks
An ISBN-13 starts 978 or 979 and ends in a mod 10 check digit, the same scheme as a product barcode. An ISBN-10 ends in a mod 11 check that can be the letter X for the value ten. The tool applies the right calculation for each format so both validate.
